Warm Hands for snow blowing/parts 1 & 2Dec 28, 2010
By Bruce Graham
"Cracker"
In the past 4 years, I have developed Raynauds. It is a condition that results in quite painful fingers as circulation cuts off due to cold exposure. Two years ago I used heavy winter gloves combined with liners. That was OK but not great. Last year I used a pair of good winter gloves (lge) with a second pair of good winter gloves (2X) over them. That was not even OK but it was the best I had come up with. My Raynauds had gotten worse. It takes about 2 hours to snow blow & shovel my property. I have been having to stop and come inside to warm my literally white painful fingers 2-3 times in the 2 hours of work. Yesterday and this morning was our first big snow storm of this winter (12-26,27-2010). This year I had bought on Amazon the lithium-ion battery heated gloves made by Venture Heat. My purchase was after a computer search & evaluation of heated gloves. Today was my first use. It took the usual 2 hours to clear the snow. I started at 9:30AM and the wind chill was 8 with 20-45 MPH winds. When I finished about 11:30 the wind chill was 11 degrees. The winds were the same as when I started. With these gloves my hands were warm the whole 2 hours. I did not have to stop to warm my fingers. Circulation did not cut off. My hands were not in pain at any time. When I finished, one battery was still on high power and the other was on medium. I am quite pleased with these gloves on my first use. I will comment on them in the future after further uses. Part 2: 2-4-11: Well now! Connecticut has now had multiple snow storms since the first part of this review. My 2 hours per snow storm time...long gone. Four hours snow blowing with the snow storm last week. My new snow blower seemed to have issues (It has heated handles but more about that later). Anyhow, I had to use my 30 year old 1132 TORO. It has issues but runs like a champ. Now I have used the heated gloves a multiple of times. I still rate them ****. On high, the heat lasts about 3 hours. One battery lasts a longer time than the other. High heat is nice & warm. Medium heat is OK and the batteries last about 45 minutes longer. One lasted the 4 hours, one ran a bit shorter. I have not and will not try the low setting as medium was just OK. It takes several hours to charge the batteries. You definately need to plan ahead. The gloves are fine for snow blowing, skiing, that type of thing. They are not suitable for work that would but strain on the gloves. IN NO WAY ARE THEY A WORK GLOVE. I do not think that they would be good for wet work either. They do heat only from the top of the gloves...not the palm or lower part of fingers but that works out OK. When I had used the new blower with heated handles, the high setting was REALLY WARM. The medium heat is fine with the heated handles. The heated handles alone would NOT be sufficient with my Raynauds. These gloves a definately been the answer to my cold hands. I am glad I bought them. By the way, the issue with my new snow blower was quite minor.

glove batteryNov 12, 2010
By Charles Glackin The product does what is promised, though the batteries are its weak link: one takes 3 hours to charge; the other takes 4 hours, and both discharge while in storage--even short term. I also find that the heat filament does not quite do the trick for the thumbs in windy weather. Until something better comes along, they seem to be the best on the market, though bulky for some tastes.
