Don't try to winterize your pool with this inflatorNov 03, 2009
By Picky Pete DIDA-4 is a prime example of good idea at a decent price but executed with shabby workmanship and untested in the field. I had 3 separate problems with it during first time use and don't recommend it for anything that takes longer than 5 minutes to inflate or to maintain the air pressure.
1) front round cover of DIDA-4 was missing a hole and a screw, held by only 3 screws - front cover dislodged opening a gap 20 seconds after starting the inflation. I drilled the hole and put in a missing screw.
2) a minute later, the hose blew up due to plastic too thin and unit blowing hot air from the electric motor, essentially melting and weakening the hose - I wrapped duck tape several layers full length of the hose trying to complete my inflation.
3) in few more minutes, the rubber seal between front cover and cylinder body came out creating airflow from the canister - I had to unscrew the front cover and duck tape rubber seal in place trying to maintain the broken seal. After restarting, unit would still leak air from under the front cover.
Here is my opinion: this inflation device is sold as 1.2 HP, 1.7 HP and 4HP model, which is one I purchased, but the canister and hose are the same for all ranges of horse powers and may be OK 1.2 HP, but not for 4HP. Unit construction can not keep up with a bigger motor. Don't be fooled by high horse power as you will not be able to use to the fullest.
