5Wonder of our modern worldNov 14, 2011
By J. Preston
This is one of the seven wonders of our modern world.

I am using this device for cleaning almost everything around the home and office. There is no need to use cleaning chemicals (which are costly, toxic, messy and space consuming). This device prepares ordinary tap water to act as a cleaning and disinfecting agent.

This is the newer version of Tersano's "Lotus" sanitizing system. It is preferrable to earlier models because the footprint on the base unit is about 1/4 of what it is on prior models. It fits well on kitchen countertops. The earlier versions are space hogs. Tersano lotus LBU100 Sanitizing System

The system temporarily creates water that is super-saturated with ozone (three oxygen atoms combined in one molecule). Most germs are destroyed by ozone. It takes some scientific background to understand, but, it is simple to use.

Here is how it works:

You fill the spray bottle with ordinary tap water. You place it on the unit and push it down onto the base of the unit. You tell the unit that it is a bottle (instead of the bowl) and turn it on. A minute or two later, the unit notifies you with an LED display that the water is ready. You can then spray the water in a fine mist on ANYTHING. It is non-toxic and non-caustic (except to germs and poisons) which can be "reduced" (Chemistry term) by the extra oxygen atom in the water.

After playing with the Labrador Retriever in a nearby river, her coat often smells from the bacteria in the river multiplying on her fur and skin. She was itching terribly. After she gets out of the water, I prepare a spray bottle of the "Lotus" water and cover her in a fine mist. There is no smell from her coat anymore after playing in the river. She has stopped itching. The super-saturated ozone water is completely safe for large living organisms like dogs and humans.

I sprayed Lotus water on the Labrador's bedding. Just a fine mist of three or four sprays. No more dog smell.

I like to keep fresh herbs and veggies at home. On getting home from the Natural Food store, I prepare a bowl of the Lotus water and immerse the herbs and vegetables in it for two minutes (the unit tells you when all of the microrganisms have succumbed to the ozone in the water). I immediately place them in a plastic bag. They keep almost indefinitely in the vegetable crisper because when I place them in the refrigerator there are no micro-organisms on them to cause browning or decay.

This process also works well with bananas. It keeps bananas from browning almost twice as long as refrigeration alone.

I have used the cleaning cloths and the Lotus water to clean the stove. It was a breeze. The Lotus water cuts through grease as if it had soap in it. It took less than a minute to wipe down the entire stove top after frying in several pans.

This works really well in the Greenhouse. Plants love ozone (that's why they are so nice and green after a thunderstorm). The disinfectant properties of the ozone saturated water are also very useful for treating may plant diseases, fungi and mold. I have cherry trees, for instance, which have developed a black mold on the trunk (making it difficult for them to hold leaves). Spraying ozone saturated water on them, three times a day, treated the mold and killed it after only about five days of application.

The Lotus water makes a fair to good deodorizer under the arms. Bacteria is what causes us to offend others when hygiene deficient. The Lotus water dispatches underarm bacteria for about six to eight hours. (Gross! I know, but, think about it in the context of global warming and the destructive potential of spray deodarants).

This is a device for thinking Americans. It is a device that has uses in the home every minute. It is a device that enhances the lifestyle of every person conerned about their personal environment.

If the device only talked to me in a seductive feminine voice . . . .

5This is one amazing gadet!Feb 02, 2012

I have only had my LSR100 for a week or so but it has already worked wonders.

Veggies
I have used it to make several bowls of vegetable sanitizer and so far the veggies and fruit are still fresh and crisp. I got too excited and started sanitizing everything even though I had wanted to hold out a 'control batch' of broccoli florets to see what the difference would be. Oh well, that test will have to wait.

Household Cleaner
I have previously owned and operated a carpet/upholstery cleaning business that also performed air duct cleaning and odor control. I can tell you there are some stains that cannot be removed, often caused by diligent homeowners try to clean the stains themselves. I used the LSR100 to remove several spots from my carpet that had been there for at least a year. I believe several were red wine, other not so sure. All, 100% of them, were removed by the Ozone water. To me that's just amazing especially after buying supposedly green and biodegradable chemicals to clean the carpets and upholstery for my clients. Nothing is greener than water :-) I was already familiar with the use of ozone to deodorize. I paid big bucks for a commercial ozone generator and had great success with it. I wish the LSR100 was available at the time, I could have bought several for what I paid for the ozone generator.

One of the worst stains for even professional to get out are water stains. For example if you are cleaning a couch, you need to mist the couch in sections and work on only that section. If you wet a spot and don't clean it, you run the risk of the water or cleaning agent drying and leaving a yellow ringed spot. An easily noticeable place where this happens is the liner under the seat cushions. Spray water or cleaner on a spot in the middle of the liner, let it dry without cleaning it and there will be a dark yellow ringed spot left behind that's traditionally been impossible or extremely difficult to remove. This also occurs on carpets and really any kind of fabric. I used the spray LSR100 spray bottle on just such a spot on my couch liner to see what would happen. After a few sprays and some wiping / rubbing with the cleaning cloths provided the stain was 99% gone. That's the best results I have been able to achieve trying to remove a water spot.

Time will tell how it performs and holds up but so far I am a huge fan! I'll try to provide updates as I use it more.

One fairly small thing. The LSR100 came with a manual for the older LBU100. There was no reference to the LSR100 anywhere and the controls are different. You can figure it out but for $200 (give or take) it would have been nice to have a manual for the actual model. I contacted the company and the customer service department responded quickly. They said that they would attach a PDF manual for the LSR100 to their reply. Well it was attached but the only difference between what was attached and what was in the box was negligible. The first page now included a little picture of the LSR100 and the title said LBU100/LSR100 Manual. But the guts of the manual, including the discussion of the controls, was exactly the same as the LBU100 manual with no reference whatsoever to the use of the LSR100 controls. I mean come on, how much could it cost to edit the existing manual and have instructions for the LSR100 or even both models. Kinda cheap on the companies part in my opinion. Hopefully future contact with customer service will be more satisfying for me and forthcoming on their part.

4Not Long LastingJan 05, 2012
By Leslie T
I've owned at least three of the Lotus Sanitizers and swear by them. If you've ever gotten a parasitical infection, you'll appreciate how awful it can be. The thing you have to understand about this appliance is that it is short-lived. We use it multiple times per week to wash all non-cooked vegetables and non-peelable fruit. Even though we buy primarily organic produce, you can't control the people who handle it for display in grocery stores. If they haven't washed their hands after using a bathroom, you can fall victim to something you really don't want to experience.

Leftover water from the unit goes on house plants which love it. I've come to realize that I can't expect a Lotus sanitizer to last longer than about a year to a year-and-a-half. Only one died before its warranty expired, but we received a replacement. While I really find this annoying (why can't they make a longer-lasting one?), I remind myself of the potential consequences of NOT using one. Trust me on this: spending a couple of hundred dollars a year beats fighting Giardia hands-down! Frankly, I'd spend double for a machine that'd last for several years.

I'm now purchasing what must be my fourth or fifth machine. Sigh.

1No service after warrantyDec 27, 2011
By EP Texas
We have had the LSR100 for a year and it worked great. Then just as the one year warranty expired, to our surprise the system stopped working. And for the past three months the customer service has been telling us to wait for a technician to call. And you wait and wait for nothing. Tersano built a product that needs to be replaced annually and for the price of the unit, it is not worth it. I read some recent reports and they had similar complaints with customer service (or should I say no customer service)
